Bio and Statement

Amelia Kamber, born in 2005, lives in Châtel-St-Denis and studies ceramics at the Centre d’enseignement professionnel de Vevey (CEPV). She discovered ceramics at a young age but reconnected with it in adolescence, finding in it a powerful means of expression. Her time in Japan further shaped her artistic vision, deepening her approach to emotion and storytelling.

In my creations, I seek above all to weave a connection with my environment and to let a free, instinctive universe emerge. I draw inspiration from a simple and spontaneous vision, akin to that of childhood, where emotions take precedence over the pursuit of perfection. Through my forms and decorations, I try to capture moments of contemplation, memories, and that sense of wonder at life.

Music plays a significant role in my life. With Glaascats, my alternative rock band, I sing, play bass, and write songs that oscillate between melancholy and lightness. Much like in ceramics, I explore themes that deeply move me: nostalgia, dreams, and the tenderness of certain memories.

I love observing how plants grow, adapt, and find their place, even in the most unexpected spaces. Their quiet strength and fragility fascinate me, and I try to convey this duality in my pieces—between balance and movement, softness and resilience.
